Man, 28, Arrested For Defiling Boy, 12, Inside Market

Police operatives from the Gender Section of the Lagos State Command have arrested a 28-year old man, Jimmy Manasseh, for allegedly defiling a 12-year old boy through anal penetration inside the market. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in the afternoon at Tejuosho Market, Surulere area of Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect, Manasseh, who has a shop at 38 Tejuosho Shopping Complex, lured the victim into his shop and penetrated his anus in order to satisfy his sexual desires with the promised to buy him friend yam after the alleged dastardly act.
However, during the forcefully penetration, he injured the victim who reported what happened to his parents on how he was raped by the suspect.
The matter was reported to the Police at Surulere Division and he was arrested. He was then transferred to the Gender Section of the State Police Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After thoroughly interrogating him, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
However,  the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned after the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, moved a motion asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be made available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
