Man, 23, Stabs Neighbour With Scissors During Public Brawl Over Money

A 23-year old man, Abdul Samad, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stabbing his neighbour, Samsudeen Jolaosho, with scissors and injuring him over money.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 9th January, 2024, at Sakamori area of Ogba, Lagos, where they reside.
The suspect,  Samad, was arraigned before Ogba Magistrate Court, Lagos, for allegedly stabbing the victim with a pair of scissors on his waist, which caused serious injury.
Samad, who is a trader, was charged for causing a breach of public peace and assault, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The prosecutor, Inspector Innocent Odugbo, told the Court that the offences allegedly committed  by the defendant contravened Sections 168 and 173 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Inspector Odugbo told the Court that a fight ensued between the complainant, Mr. Jolaosho and the defendant, Samad,  over money and in the process, the defendant brought out scissors and stabbed the complainant.
The complainant was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital by passersby, where he was being treated and the matter was reported to the Police before Samad was arrested and charged before the Court.
However, Samad pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M. O. Popoola, granted the defendant bail in the sum N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 20th March, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
