The Aketi I Know: Tribute In Honour Of His Excellency Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu

Posted on February 22, 2024
Even though, I prefer penning down and  sharing my thoughts early in the morning, I discovered I wasn’t in the right frame of mind to write anything this morning. I reminded myself again at noon, that the 7 days tribute series I started should not be abandoned but concluded, that it was the fifth day and therefore I owe it a duty to those reading to at least complete, yet my brain could not connect to my hand literally.
*I was moody, sober and nostalgic*
I was like that for hours untill a  link of the clip of the lying-State Of Aketi was shared by My Sister Ewatomilola on Yemie Fash Online WhatsApp group at exactly 3.46 pm. I checked it out and I  was glued till the end. From the procession led by the daughter and sister, To the arrival of his darling wife, To the Speech of his excellency, The Governor of Ondo, Gov Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa to other aspects of the programme.
*What caught and sustained my attention through it all was Gov Ayedatiwa’s Speech. His voice though eloquent and Audible was emotional ladden and Nostalgic. It sounds like the voice of a man stifling his tears and  trying as much to be courageous for the entire  state at large. If you had ever come across late Gov Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in his life time, you will perhaps feel the same way too today*.
*Permit me to borrow Gov Ayedatiwa’s Words in describing Aketi today at the Stadium when he was about to sum up his speech. he said “Aketi, Brilliant, Bold, Strong and Unwavering in his Conviction”*. And then it hit me, That is the Aketi , I know, A courageous man who never backs down from his convictions. A typical warrior. Awikaaaka, the image below reminds me of when we had a  Strategic meeting with him in the middle of the night  weeks close to his re-election day, even though the election was important, the situation fiery, Aketi was unmoved, he never minced words in reiterating his stance of equity and justice, that is the Aketi, I know!(I am sure those in this picture will remember clearly the event of that day)
Just as Tope Alabi’s songs earlier is a reminder that we are all sourjourners on earth and we should strive to not just live big but live well!! !, The question is what will you be remembered for???
*Adieu Aketi, May the angels carry you on their shoulders as you journey to the world beyond and rest your soul!*
