Oyo SWAN Sports Day: 18 Journalists test skill in T/tennis contest

The city of Ibadan is set for the battle of ping pong players as eighteen journalists test skills in the game at a special programme tagged the Sports Day put together by the Sports Writers Association (SWAN), Oyo State chapter.

The journalists, comprising fourteen male and four female, will square it up with each in each of the male and female categories with winners going home with fabulous prizes.

The Oyo SWAN Sports Day holding on Monday 26th February 2024 at the NUJ Press Centre Iyaganku GRA Ibadan, will also feature two lectures to be delivered by two distinguished resource persons.

According to the Chairman, Oyo SWAN, Comrade Niyi Alebiosu, the topics of the lectures are :’Raising A Complete Man: The Place Of Academy and Sports and ‘After AFCON 2023: What Next?’

The lecturers, who are to speak on the topics are Founder, Doregos Private Academy, Lagos, Mrs Clementina Abeke Doregos and a Senior Partner in Sportdotcom Limited, Mr Toyosi Oyetunji.

Also expected to grace the two – in – one event are the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Miss Wasilat Adegoke, who will be the Chairman of the day, a former Chief Press Secretary to the Oyo State Governor, Chief Kehinde Olaosebikan and the President, Ibadan Recreation Club, Dr Soji Tayo as Special Guests of Honour.

Other dignitaries invited to the one day event are Oyo SWAN Patroness, Ambassador Romoke Ayinde, Director of School, Bodija International School, Mr Olumide Eso, President, Nigeria Judo Federation, Dr Musa Oshodi and the Immediate Past General Manager of the State Sports Council; Mr Gboyega Makinde.

The Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, Comrade Ademola Babalola will be the Chief Host.

The Chairman of the event’s Planning Committee, Comrade Femi Amusan stated that Oyo SWAN Sports Day is part of the valedictory programmes lined up for the outgoing leadership of the Association.
