As the Naira continues to engage in a free fall against the Dollar and a host of other currencies, a Chartered Accountant and politician, Ozo Dr Amobi Nwokafor, has advocated for self reliance as the nation’s beat way of stemming such a fall and asserting dominance.

He stated this in a chat with journalists in his palatial home in FCT, Abuja.

Nwokafor, who is a Chartered Accountant with many years of repute in the field, stated that Nigeria needed to rely solely on its resources to be able to fend off the onslaught of other currencies against the Naira.

“We are at a point of economic rebirth in Nigeria and with President Bola Tinubu  in the trenches to ensure that the nation is put on a path of sure economic footing, the missing link however, is the fact that the Nigerian nation must realise that self sufficiency is our best bet in ensuring such.”

“We cannot continue to be an import dependent nation and expect miracles.  No, we must emulate nations like China and India, which looked inwards rather than expose their people to the trap of being import dependent.”

Nwokafor also urged the government to adopt a number of strategies such as  the diversification of its currency holdings, prevention of capital flight and building foreign exchange reserves.
