A 39-year-old man, Sa’idu Mohammed, will be spending the next 14 years in prison custody for engaging a 12-year-old boy in anal sex in Bauchi State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that it was the judgment of the State High Court, which found him guilty of sodomy under the Criminal Laws and sentenced accordingly.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Mu’azu Abubakar, of the Bauchi State High Court while delivering his judgment, however, gave the convict an option of N100,000 fine.

The convict had earlier pleaded with the judge to temper justice with mercy having been arraigned before the Court by the Police operatives from the State Command for the offence.

The prosecution counsel, Mr S. M. Toro, told the Court that the convict on 16th June, 2022, lured the victim to a river in Yelwa community and sodomised him. Having satisfied himself, he allowed him to go.

However,  the victim went home and revealed what happened and the parents reported the dastardly act to the Police and he was consequently arrested and charged before the Court.

The prosecutor stated that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 10 and is punishable under Section 11 of the Anti-Kidnapping, Theft of Cattle and Rape Special Provision Laws of Bauchi State B.S.L.N. No. 8 of 2007.

He said that the offence also contravened Section 13 of the Anti-Kidnapping, Theft of Cattle and Rape Special Provision Laws of Bauchi State B.S.L.N. No. 8 of 2007.

The Court found him culpable and sentenced him accordingly.
