Nigerian Bottling Company Sends 2 Staff To Prison For Stealing N30,000

Two staff of Nigerian Bottling Company PLC, Toheeb Balogun, 35 and Moses Fadiora, 37, have been arrested and charged for allegedly stealing 30 litres of diesel worth N30, 000.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the alleged theft happened on 4th May, 2024 at the company located at the Agidingbi area of Ikeja, Lagos, where they were employed as workers.
According to the Police,  they stole the products at night and when they tried to escape, they were caught and handed over to the management for necessary action.
The management then handed them over to the Police at Alausa Division for prosecution despite much pleading. The management insisted that they should be prosecuted for the alleged offence to serve as deterrent to other who may want to commit such crimes in future.
The Police charged the defendants before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State.
However,  they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor,  Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. M.A. Owolabi, granted them bail with sureties in like sum and ordered their remand in custody pending when the defendants will perfect their bail conditions.
