There’s No PDP Property In My Custody – Says Charles Ugwuh
The immediate past chairman of the Peoples Democratic party in Imo State, Engr. Charles Ugwuh, has dismissed as baseless and misleading the allegation by the acting chairman of the party in the state, Mr. Chidi Dike, that he is in possession of some of the party’s property.
Ugwuh described the allegation as not only unfounded but a cheap and petty blackmail to impugn and undermine his integrity insisting that there is no single property of the party in his custody.
He said, “My attention has been drawn to a false and misleading allegation in the public domain that I am in possession of the party’s property. For purpose of clarity, I wish to state that I am not in possession of any single property of the PDP including cars as falsely alleged”.
Ugwuh narrated his achievements and how he transformed the party in the state as the chairman.
According to him, “I resigned my membership and position as the chairman of the party on 30th April, 2024, and handed over the office key to the then party secretary. When I assumed office as the state chairman on 20th August 2020, I inherited no facility whatsoever. There were no office furniture, equipment, stationary or viable infrastructure. With the help of my competent team, we changed the face of the party office”.
“The little improvements in the office were financed through funds donated by me and contributed by the party leader, HE Emeka Ihedioha and other patriotic stakeholders. We were able to install solar lights in the compound, purchased a 62kvA brand new diesel generator, photocopying machines, office equipment, repainted and remodeled the state meeting halls, installed canopy and other improvements in the party compound.”
Engr. Ugwuh also highlighted how he worked for the development of the party.
“Based on the stringent appeals from the state leaders and major stakeholders of Imo PDP, I accepted to serve as Chairman. I rebuilt and held the party together in unity and stability by re-establishing the party’s structures and offices from ward to state levels for optimal performance. I served meritoriously as the state chairman of the party without any blemish and brought some innovations and transformation in the working mechanisms of the party.”
The former Minister of Commerce and Industry said that those accusing him of being in possession of some of the party’s property are only engaging in a mere negative profiling against his person.
It can be recalled that recently there were reports in the social media that the PDP Acting chairman in the state, Mr. Chidi Dike, accused the former party chairman, Engr. Charles Ugwuh, of being in possession of the party’s vehicle.
