Sports Minister Inaugurates Strategic Committee For 2024 Paris Olympic & Paralympic Games

The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, on Friday inaugurated the Strategic Planning Committee for the 2024 Paris Olympic/Paralympic Games with the charge for them to better the heroics of Team Nigeria during the 1996 Olympic Games, which stands as the country’s best performance so far since her participation in the games.
To achieve this feat, the Honourable Minister canvassed for strong synergy and cooperation between the Committee and the Podium Performance Committee saddled with the responsibility of delivering improved podium performance for Nigerian athletes across board.
“Today marks a pivotal moment in our nation’s journey towards sporting excellence. As we gather here, we stand on the threshold of a new era for Nigerian sports,with our eyes firmly set on achieving unprecedented success at the 2024 Paris Olympics/ Paralympic Games.”

“Our athletes, fuelled by passion and determination, stand ready to compete with the world’s best. But success is not a mere aspiration,; it is a collective endeavour that requires strategic vision, unwavering commitment and relentless pursuit,” he said.
While stressing that the efforts of the Ministry is geared towards ensuring that the name of the country is elevated at the Olympics, he urged members of the committee to approach their assignment with the highest sense of responsibility. He added that every member of the committee should appreciate the enormous role conferred on them by their membership of the committee.

In her earlier remark, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Tinuke Watti, underscored the importance of planning to the success of Team Nigeria at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. She charged the committee to execute a flawless plan and deliver success for Team Nigeria at the games.
The 12-Member Committee chaired by Mrs. Tinuke Watti, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, has as terms of reference Assessment and Evaluation, Strategy Formulation, Implementation Oversight, Performance Monitoring and Stakeholder Engagement.
