GOtv has become a key player in the Nigerian entertainment industry, offering a platform for talent development, exposure, employment opportunities, and family entertainment. As GOtv Nigeria nears its 13th anniversary, we highlight some of the talents who have taken on ambassadorial roles with the brand:

Daddy Showkey: Veteran Nigerian singer, John Odafe Asiemo popularly known as “Daddy Showkey” was the face of the GOtv brand for years, after coming on board as ambassador in 2015. Daddy Showkey is famed for his creation of the “Galala” dance routine and remains a household name in the Nigerian music scene. The singer, through his deep grassroots connection commanded huge love and support for the GOtv brand via brand commercials and special guest appearances at major GOtv events, while also earning millions for himself through the deal.

Mr Ibu: At the peak of his career, the late Nollywood comic star John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, was a big part of the GOtv brand family.  The late entertainer was unveiled as the brand ambassador back in 2014. His wide acceptance by the Nigerian audience made him a suitable associate for the GOtv brand which aims to provide best value entertainment to families across Nigeria. Mr Ibu featured in prominent GOtv commercials alongside Daddy Showkey. Their special combination on street activations for the “GOtv Go Pick Ya Own promos” remains evergreen.

Laycon: BBNaija Lockdown winner, Olamilekan Agbeleshe popularly known as “Laycon”, was another popular face to represent the GOtv brand. Shortly after his rise to stardom as BBNaija winner, Laycon signed up as GOtv ambassador, featuring in commercials and several customer engagement activities such as the GOtv City tour of Abeokuta, Enugu, Uyo and Abuja.

Victor Osimhen: In June 2021, the GOtv brand onboarded a football superstar with the unveiling of Super Eagles and Napoli Striker, Victor Osimhen. The striker was the face of GOtv Max, which was the highest package on the GOtv platform at the time. The package was the home of the Serie A where the forward plies his trade. Osimhen became a household name in Nigeria following his heroics at the 2015 FIFA under-17 World cup where he scored ten goals to win the golden boot. He featured in several GOtv commercials that resonated with millions of Nigerians given his grass-to-grace story and GOtv’s connection with the grassroots.

Whitemoney: BBNaija ‘Shine Ya Eye’ season winner, Hazel Oyeze Onou, widely known as “Whitemoney” was unveiled as GOtv Nigeria brand ambassador in November 2021. His unveiling coincided with the 10th anniversary of the brand and the launch of the GOtv Supa package. After winning BBNaija Season 6, GOtv provided another opportunity for the new star to get more support from MultiChoice as brand ambassador.

As GOtv continues to push the digital terrestrial footprint across Nigeria, the brand’s impact on talent development and promotion, as well as its economic contribution through direct and indirect employment for thousands of youths across the country, cannot be overstated.
