Samson Siasia’s FIFA Ban Officially Lifted

Posted on August 16, 2024

One of Nigeria’s most successful football players and coach, Samson Siasia, also known as Sia1, can now heave a sigh of relief as the 5-year FIFA ban imposed on him is now over and he can return to coaching.

The 57-year old, who celebrated his birthday on 14th August, will now stage a comeback to his coaching and football management career.

Siasia, who had recorded huge successes with Nigeria’s age grade football and a brief stint with Super Eagles, experienced a dramatic setback in his career sometime in 2019 when he was alleged to be involved in match-fixing and handed a lifetime ban by the World’s Football Governing Body..

Nevertheless, after the respected coach gave this allegation a good fight, unyielding and pressing to clear his name, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reduced his ban, allowing him a return to the Football World on August 16, 2024.
