Israel And The Middle East

A few days ago, it was confirmed that the Israeli Defense Forces launched airstrikes into Lebanon, resulting in the de@th of Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, a terr0rist organization responsible for the Hamas attack on Israel some months ago. Hezbollah is widely believed to be backed by the Iranian political class. This development has escalated tensions into what could be described as a cold w@r in the Middle East.
Following threats of further attacks by Hezbollah, Israel took a defensive stance, targeting and destroying bunkers in Lebanon, leading to the de@ths of Nasrallah and several others. This strike has unsettled Iran’s political class and their allies across the Middle East. What caught my attention most was the statement from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, directed at the people of Iran. This statement as attached below has garnered significant solidarity on X (formerly Twitter), with the hashtag #IraniansStandWithIsrael showing bold support from Iranian citizens against their own leadership.
In contrast, within Nigeria, a portion of the population views this conflict through a religious lens, accusing Israel of genocide and launching an unprovoked war against Hezbollah and also responsible for the tension in the middle east. This reaction persists even as Lebanese and Iranians celebrate the de@th of Nasrallah. This leaves me questioning: What exactly is wrong with the Nigerian brand of Islam and its worldview? Few months back, it was their support for Palestine, today, it’s Iran. For these few, everything must be viewed from a religious lens.
