In a remarkable demonstration of community impact and commitment to health care, the Heal the World Foundation, in partnership with Tola Olukilede Ministries International, inaugurated substantial legacy projects at Gbagada General Hospital and Orile Agege General Hospital in Lagos.

The unveiling, held last Sunday, was attended by dignitaries including Mr. Kunle Ade-Ojo, MD of Toyota Nigeria, who served as the Special Guest of Honour.

The projects underscore the foundations’ mission to transform healthcare spaces and support vulnerable communities.

At Gbagada General Hospital, the foundation renovated the entire second floor, a project that included upgrades to the Psychiatry Clinic, ENT Clinic, and the Seminar Room, which also serves as a counseling space for patients’ relatives.

Dr. Olusegun Joseph, MD/CEO of Gbagada General Hospital, expressed gratitude for the foundation’s second consecutive year of involvement, noting the substantial expansion from renovating individual rooms to enhancing a whole floor.

“The renovations provide not only a clean, uplifting environment but also improve patient outcomes, especially for those in psychiatric care, where a calm, clean setting contributes significantly to recovery,” Dr. Joseph emphasized.

Mr. Ade-Ojo lauded Dr. Olukilede’s philanthropic work, citing his dedication despite modest beginnings and describing him as an elder brother and an inspiration, noting both men’s shared heritage from Ilara-Mokin.

Dr. Olukilede highlighted the significance of these legacy projects, part of the foundation’s annual initiatives aimed at long-lasting social impact.

“These projects are part of our legacy, a testament to our mission of compassion that will be remembered for generations. Beyond scholarships, medical bill assistance, and shelter for the underprivileged, these renovations are chapters in a story we are writing for the future,” he remarked.

During the visit, Olukilede and Ade-Ojo led a compassionate ‘ward round,’ praying with patients, anointing them, and assisting several by covering their hospital bills.

At Orile Agege General Hospital, the foundation unveiled a newly furnished Children’s Ward, equipped with fresh beddings and mattresses.

Dr. Sola Pitan, MD/CEO of the hospital, acknowledged the foundation’s timely intervention, especially as the hospital is preparing to offer Housemanship opportunities for trainee doctors.

Tracing the hospital’s evolution from a primary health center in 1982 to a full-fledged General Hospital in 1999, Dr. Pitan outlined recent advancements under his leadership, including the expansion of the Emergency Room capacity, increased physiotherapy facilities, and additional surgical theaters.

The event showcased the transformative reach of Heal the World Foundation and Tola Olukilede Ministries in elevating healthcare services, creating a compassionate legacy, and building a brighter future for Lagos communities.
