Woman, 28, Docked For Assaulting DPO & 2 Other Police Officers On Duty

The Divisional Police Officer attached to Otu-Costain Division of the Ondo State Command, CSP Benson Funso Oludaye, had a nasty experience after a 28-year old woman, Tosin Anjorin, allegedly assaulted him with other Police Inspectors at the station.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ore area of the Ondo State Command.
The suspect, who is a trader, allegedly assaulted the DPO and two other Police officers over an undisclosed matter.
She has been arrested and arraigned before an Odigbo Chief Magistrate Court in Ondo State for assaulting the three Police officers.
The prosecutor, Inspector James Usifoh, told the Court that the defendant committed the offence on 6th November, 2024, at about 11:00 am at Otu-costain Division in Costain area, Ore in Ondo State, by conducting herself in a manner to cause the breach of public peace by assaulting three Police officers while performing their lawful duty.
Inspector Usifoh stated that the defendant held one Inspector Omage Sandra, by uniform and also gave a human bite to Inspector Bose Onoseleaga at her back while assaulting and holding the DPO in the division, CSP Benson Funso Oludaye, by grabbing his clothes.
He stated that the alleged offence contravened Sections 356(2), 249 (D) of the Criminal Code Cap. 37, Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006 which attracts several years of imprisonment.
However, she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Usifoh, therefore, sought an adjournment to enable him study the case file and prepare his witnesses for trial.
The defence counsel, Mrs. K. M Lawani, did not oppose the application made by the prosecutor, but prayed the court to grant his client bail on the most liberal terms.
The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Festus Akinlolu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000, with two sureties in like sum.
The matter was adjourned till 22nd November, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
