Oyegbola-Sodipo Fulfills Campaign Promise With Launch of “Elderly Care” Initiative, Announces Appointment of Aides
The newly-elected Executive Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Hon. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, has fulfilled his campaign promise to “hit the ground running” by launching the “Elderly Care” initiative called “Eto Ilera ati Itoju Awon Agba.”
This programme underscores his commitment to providing robust support for senior citizens within the local government.

He explained that Elderly Care initiative will offer dedicated healthcare services, monthly stipends, and other essential support to senior citizens.
Sharing a personal story that inspired the initiative, Hon. Oyegbola-Sodipo recounted: “On the election day, I met Mrs. Janet Akamo, an elderly woman in her late 90s, who came to vote supporting her frame with a walking stick. She retorted as she prepared to make her way back home after casting her vote, ‘Titori ara wa ati t’ori awon omo wa ni mo wa di’bo’ (I came out to vote because of myself, my children and grandchildren,). That encounter solidified my resolve that our seniors must enjoy the dividends of democracy.”
The features of the “Elderly Care” initiative, he stated, include subsidised meals providing affordable nutrition for senior citizens, transportation assistance to support their access to medical appointments, and socialisation by facilitating recreational activities to foster community bonding.
Hon. Oyegbola-Sodipo said, “By implementing this initiative, Abeokuta North Local Government is prioritising the well-being and dignity of its elderly population, while reinforcing its commitment to inclusive governance.”
In addition to launching the initiative, Hon. Oyegbola-Sodipo announced the appointment of key aides to drive his administration’s developmental agenda.
