Senator Adeola Yayi Unveils Scholarship/Bursary Scheme For 5,000 Ogun Students With Renewed Commitment For Students Empowerment
The distinguished lawmaker representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi, has flagged off the 2024/2025 YAYI Scholarship Scheme for Ogun State students in public tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
The official flag off was done in Ilaro, headquarters of the Ogun West Senatorial District, by the Board of the Senator Adeola Scholarship Scheme led by its Chairman, Professor Tope Popoola.
Prof Popoola disclosed that Senator Adeola has increased the number of beneficiaries from the 1,500 awarded in the 2023/24 Exercise to about 5,000 in the unveiled 2024/25 exercise with opportunities extended to Ogun State students across the three Senatorial Districts in Ogun State.
He advised applicants to avoid double Registration as this will lead to disqualification, stating that the website would remain open till December 20, 2024 while the award of scholarship and bursary ceremony will hold early in 2025.
In his remarks, the Board Secretary, Chief Dapo Oke, stated that the process is free and no student should pay money to anyone or group of people to benefit from the scheme, advising applicants to visit the designated website: yayischolarshipprogram.com.ng to fill the form as required.
Goodwill messages were given by various stakeholders at the event, including Royal Fathers, Baales, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) leadership, National Youths Council of Nigeria, Front line Educationists, Leaders of Market Men and Women as well as APC Party leaders in Ogun West, while the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Dr Kehinde Olugbenle was represented by the Olu of Imasayi, Oba Dr Lukmon Kuoye.
Other guests at the Flag-Off include the APC Senatorial Chairman, Alhaji Azeez Muhammed; Engr. Yinka Akintomide; Chief Samuel Ayedogbon; Aare Hon. Waliu Taiwo; Chief Kunle Ajibose; Chief Atinsola Amore; Olori Adebisi Olaotan, representative of the Iyaloja General of Ogun State; Council of Baales from the five Local Governments in Ogun West; Members of the Yayi Scholarship Board and Students’ Union Leaders from various Institutions.
