CAF Awards: Ambode Congratulates Asisat Oshoala

The Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has congratulated female football star, Asisat Lamina Oshoala after emerging the African Women Player of the Year at the Aiteo CAF Awards held Thursday night in Accra, Ghana.
She beat Cameroonian Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene and Chrestina Kgatlana of South Africa to the top prize.
Ambode, who was one of the special guests at the glittering ceremony stated in a tweet message; “Congratulations to all the winners at the Awards, especially our own, Asisat Oshoala who emerged as the Women’s Player of the Year.”
Oshoala has been crowned African Women Player of the year for a record third time.
Oshoala, Member of the Order of Niger, MON was born on 9 October 1994.
She plays for Chinese side Dalian Quanjian F.C. in the Chinese Women’s Super League as a forward.
On the delegation of Ambode to the award ceremony was the chairman of Lagos State Sports Commission, Dr Kweku Tandoh.
The CAF award gala took place inside the beautiful International Conference Centre in Accra with a host of former award winners on parade.
The newly elected Liberian president George Weah was represented by his lovely wife and also in attendance were past African Footballers of the Year including Nigeria’s Emmanuel Amuneke, Victor Ikpeba and the mercurial Kanu Nwankwo.
The event which was sponsored by the Aiteo group was filled with glamour as a fine core of music artistes light up the stage in a well-timed and organised show.
