Princess on a Hill is a thrilling Showmax Original series that delves deep into themes of power, family dynamics, and the intricate layers of human ambition. Episode 3 of Princess on a Hill is now streaming.

At the heart of this series is Moyosore Lawson, played masterfully by the veteran Nollywood actor Bimbo Manuel.

Moyosore is a complex character whose persona and hidden motives drive much of the story’s suspense.

With his commanding presence, Bimbo Manuel breathes life into a man torn between his ambitions and his personal regrets.

In this interview, Manuel shares insights into his character and the broader impact of the series.

What do you think is most enigmatic about your character?

Not many people know the real Moyosore Lawson, and I think that is an advantage he has over everyone else who wants a piece of what he’s after. Nobody truly knows what drives him or what his ultimate life goal is. Many assume it’s just about the money or the power, but there’s more to Moyosore Lawson than meets the eye. There’s an unresolved puzzle in his life that even those who think they know him fail to grasp.

What should the audience expect from you playing Moyosore Lawson?

Playing Moyosore Lawson allowed me to showcase myself in a totally different light, something the audience might not be used to seeing from me.

What’s a key element you want people to note concerning your character?

Perceptions play a significant role in how we relate to each other. For Moyosore Lawson, his relationship with his son is his biggest regret. It’s a massive weight on his conscience and one that resonates deeply with me as an actor.

Do you think it is important for Showmax to keep telling stories like Princess on a Hill?

Absolutely. It’s essential because, no matter how much we try to adopt Western ideals, we are fundamentally Africans, and our core values remain rooted in our heritage. Over the years, we’ve done significant damage to our age-old extended family system, and it has impacted our values. A platform like Showmax, which emphasises these concepts, can contribute to societal healing. By pushing these narratives, society might start to recognize and appreciate Showmax’s role in fostering positive change.

What was it like playing Moyosore Lawson?

Portraying Moyosore Lawson was incredibly challenging, but it was also an immense joy. Beyond the typical challenges an actor faces with a complex character, there was something deeply rewarding about stepping into his shoes.
