It was an emotional moment at the palace of Chairman, Council of Ezendigbo in Lagos State, Eze Chika Nwokedi, while touching lives by empowering over 180 widows, widowers and the less privileged in the society at the 2024 Eze Okpoko Foundation.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the event took place in Ijegun area of Lagos, where his friends, relations and wellwishers gathered in solidarity with Eze Nwokedi, who also hold the title as Eze Okpoko 1 of Obodoukwu town, Imo State.

Some of the items given to the beneficiaries included bags of rice,  Indomie noodles, tubers of yam, Ankara wrappers, wrist watches and cash gifts worth millions of Naira.

This year’s event was unique because Eze Nwokedi, who is also the Ezendigbo in Ijegun/Ijedodo, increased the number of the beneficiaries despite the economic challenges in the country and cost of food stuff and materials at this period.

The gesture went beyond widows,  widowers and the less privileged in the society, journalists, individuals and members of Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos benefited from Eze Nwokedi’s milk of human kindness.

Eze Nwokedi expressed his happiness and satisfaction that he is puting smiles on the faces of people and described what he did as a covenant he had with God, which he started over 10 years ago.

This is what Eze Nwokedi said concerning his philanthropic gesture:

“I am passionate about giving. I can give my last Kobo. Whenever I give, it gives me a sense of happiness and satisfaction because I know what the less privileged people pass through in the society.”

“I am happy I was a begger that has turned to a giver. My beginning was tough; I slept inside the shop at Ladipo Market for seven years. And I asked God that if He blesses me, I will continue to assist the less privileged in the society. And when God blessed me, I started and have continued the project of giving over the years.”

He also advised all the privileged Igbo to remember the less privileged people in the society. He wondered how one will be using SUV of over 40 million Naira while there are so many less privileged people in the society that need food and assistance.

Eze Nwokedi also recognized his wife, Lolo Ugoeze Tessy Chika Nwokedi, for her support for the vision and friends who have contributed immensely to making the foundation a success of putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged in the society.

Eze Chika Nwokedi’s benevolence has no boundary as he doesn’t consider tribe,  religion, gender and others factors in giving. This was demonstrated when the Catholic Priest of St. Joachim in Ijegun Parish submitted names and he did not consider the church and they were among the beneficiaries of this gesture.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to P.M.EXPRESS expressed gratitude to Eze Nwokedi and prayed to God to continue to bless him for touching lives in the society.
