The Orashi National Congress (ONC), under the leadership of Amb. Comrade Emeni Ibe (JP, AP), has extended warm congratulations to Senator John Azuta-Mbata on his emergence as the 13th President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, a foremost Igbo socio-cultural organization.

The election, which was concluded yesterday in Enugu, saw Senator Azuta-Mbata, a native of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State, elected through a consensus process. The election was conducted via voice voting, a transparent and credible approach that was applauded by many observers, including the ONC.

Fifteen other individuals were also elected to various executive positions within Ohanaeze Ndigbo, marking the commencement of a new leadership era. The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including the governors of Enugu, Imo, Abia, and Anambra States, underscoring the importance of the occasion.

In a congratulatory message signed by Amb. Comrade Emeni Ibe, the ONC commended the election process and described Senator Azuta-Mbata’s emergence as a unifying step for Ndigbo.

“We, in the Orashi region and the Orashi National Congress, extend our heartfelt congratulations to Senator John Azuta-Mbata and the newly elected leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. This victory is not just a personal achievement for Senator Azuta-Mbata but a monumental milestone for Ndigbo, symbolizing unity, progress, and inclusivity,” the statement read.

Amb. Ibe also emphasized the ONC’s commitment to fostering collaboration and mutual development between the Igbo and other ethnic nationalities in Nigeria.

“We are confident in Senator Azuta-Mbata’s capacity to lead Ohanaeze Ndigbo towards the realization of its objectives, including the promotion of Igbo culture, economic empowerment, and the protection of the interests of Ndigbo both at home and in the diaspora,” he added.

The ONC further congratulated all elected executives of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, expressing optimism that the new leadership will bring renewed vigor and direction to the organization.

The election marks the beginning of a new chapter for Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, with expectations high for Senator Azuta-Mbata and his team to drive the socio-cultural, political, and economic aspirations of the Igbo people forward.
