A well respected Niger Delta leader and traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty, King (Dr.) King Ateke Michael Tom (JP), (Amanyanabo of Okochiri Kingdom, Seukro of Niger Delta), has sent out heartwarming felicitations to the Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, on the occasion marking his golden jubilee birthday celebration.
In a message he personally signed at his most revered Besepuko Royal Palace, King Ateke Tom (United Nations’ Peace Ambassador) described the 50th birthday of the governor as a golden milestone, which highlights his remarkable journey, distinguished service and unwavering commitment to the well-being of the people of Rivers State and Niger Delta region.
The Amanayabo of Okochiri Kingdom, Ateke Tom, wrote:
“Happy Birthday to my Brother and Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS.”
“There is no doubt that you have made governance simple for Rivers people through the demonstration of your humility, respect for traditional authorities and your unwavering commitment in project execution with an unprecedented sustainable framework devoid of borrowings.”
“Today, we pray as a people that God, who made you Governor of Rivers State at a time like this, will continue to strengthen you to serve our people with wisdom and understanding that our dear Rivers State will prosper into far greater heights through your policy frameworks and implementations.”
“Happy Birthday, our Destiny Governor Sir, Siminalayi Fubara.
We’re Stronger Together.”
It should be noted that it was Governor Siminalayi Fubara who presented staff of office and a certificate of recognition to King Ateke Tom, a former Niger Delta Agitator as a first-class King.
Ateke Tom was coronated as King of Okochiri, a kingdom in Okirika Local Government Area of Rivers State in 2017, and was recognised as a second-class King by former Governor Nyesom Wike. The stool was however, elevated to the first class by Governor Fubara on February, 2024.
Justifying his stand on the stool elevation, Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara said he acted within the ambit of the law to upgrade the traditional stool, which Ateke is occupying in recognition of his efforts at promoting peace in his locality and Rivers State.
