Man, 40, Remanded In Custody Over Sex With Neighbour’s Girl, 16

A 40-year old man, Okemute Precious, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly luring and engaging his neighbour’s 16-year old girl in sex. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Precious has been arrested and charged for defilement.

 

The incident happened at Sule Street, off Better Life bus stop, Abaranje, Ikotun, Lagos, where he resides while the victim’s parents in the same neighbourhood.

 

According to the Police, the man lured the victim into his apartment, engaged her in sex and having satisfied himself,  he allowed her to go.

However, the information leaked to the victim’s parents, who then reported the matter to the Police at Ikotun Division. The man was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

 

After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charge read:

“That you, Okemute Precious ‘M’ of  Sule Street, off Better Bus-Stop, Abaranje, Ikotun, Lagos on the 4/12/2024, at about 10hrs-1400hrs, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did defile the victim, 16years old and thereby committed an ice contrary to and punishable under Section 137, of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”

 

The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the alleged offence.

 

The Chief Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
