Akungba-Akoko witnessed an event of historic proportions as the final burial ceremony of Pa Gabriel Adelabu Ologunorisa turned into a grand carnival—one that many have described as the burial of the century. The sheer magnitude of the celebration surpassed even the famed Akungba Day celebrations, filling the town to the brim with dignitaries, family, friends, and well-wishers from across Nigeria.

The burial rites commenced on Thursday, January 30, 2025, with a solemn Wake Service, which was previously reported. However, the main burial ceremony on Friday, January 31, 2025, was nothing short of extraordinary.

*A Celebration Befitting a Legend*

The day’s events began as early as 8:00 AM with the interment of Pa Ologunorisa’s remains. Following this, a grand church service was held at 10:00 AM, attended by a distinguished congregation that included high-profile personalities such as the Honourable Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Barrister Lateef Fagbemi (SAN).

The service was presided over by the President of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Worldwide, Pastor Samuel Oladele, alongside the General Evangelist of CAC Worldwide, Pastor Hezekiah Oladeji. This marked a historic moment for Christ Apostolic Church Akungba, as it was the first time such revered figures officiated a service in the town.

The only Bible passage for the sermon was taken from Job 14:1-10, where Pastor Oladele delivered a powerful message, emphasizing that being a Christian does not mean a life without challenges. He warned against churches that preach otherwise and urged Pa Ologunorisa’s children to uphold and preserve their father’s remarkable legacy.

*A Grand Reception Like Never Before*

Immediately after the church service, the festivities moved to the Community Comprehensive Secondary School field, where the legendary King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1 De Ultimate) thrilled the audience with his electrifying music. The entire Akoko region gathered in Akungba to witness his performance, making the event a spectacle that will be remembered for years to come.

*A Call to Immortalize a Legacy*

In honor of Pa Gabriel Adelabu Ologunorisa’s lifelong contributions to education and the community, we, on behalf of Akungba, call on his children and associates to immortalize his name by renaming the Sam Maris University Staff Secondary School after him. This would be a befitting tribute to a man whose impact on education and society remains immeasurable.

*A Showcase of Excellence in Event Management*

A notable highlight of the event was the top-tier event management setup, which matched Lagos standards in organization and execution. The canopies, stage, and logistics were all managed by *BMY Events, a company owned by one of Akungba’s most prominent sons. We encourage everyone in Akungba and Akoko at large to patronize BMY Events* for seamless and stress-free event planning.

*Final Prayers and Wishes*

We pray for the children and family of Pa Gabriel Adelabu Ologunorisa, asking God to uphold and uplift them as they continue to build on his illustrious legacy. May his soul rest in perfect peace.

The burial of Pa Gabriel Adelabu Ologunorisa was not just a ceremony—it was a grand celebration of life, a reminder of the greatness he embodied, and a moment in history that Akungba will never forget.
