Ojodu LCDA, under the leadership of Hon. Segun Odunmbaku, convened a crucial stakeholders’ meeting to discuss the channelization of the drainage system spanning Wards B,C,D,E and F right from the back of Murhi International building to Alagbole Under Bridge by the Lagos State Government.
Hon. Odunmbaku expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, particularly the Office of Drainage Services and Water Resources, for its interventions in mitigating environmental challenges in Ojodu LCDA. He highlighted ongoing collaborations, including the Ogba Road and Drainage reconstruction project, as part of broader efforts to enhance flood control and urban resilience.
Engr. Ajadi G.A., representing the Ministry, outlined the proposed canal reconstruction, a 3-kilometer concrete channelization project designed to be 15 meters wide, with overlapping slabs for pedestrian and vehicular crossings. He emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that border areas through collaboration with Ogun State Government, are integrated into the development plan.
Stakeholders raised concerns regarding compensation for affected properties and enforcement against illegal waste disposal by refuse cart pushers. They also recommended recycling initiatives to promote sustainable waste management.
Engr. Ajadi and Hon. Odunmbaku assured residents that their inputs would be considered and adopted, ensuring an inclusive and effective implementation of the project.
