A 22-year old man, Samuel Arikor, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly conspiring with others now at large to kill his rival, identified as Samson and secretly buried him in a shallow grave.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Pump and Sell Addo Road Ajah, Lagos, where the suspect engaged the deceased in a fight.
According to the Police,  the suspect beat the victim until he died over an undisclosed matter. And when he realized that he had killed him, he secretly dug a grave behind one Ayobami Ogundele’s house now at large.
However,  the information leaked and the matter was reported to the Police at Lagbansa Division. The suspect was arrested and transferred to the SCID, Yaba for further investigation over his alleged conduct.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ebute Metta Magistrate Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, SAMUEL ARIKOR ‘M’ and others still at large, on the 23rd day of January 2025, at Pump and Sell Addo Road Ajah, Lagos, in the Lagos State Magisterial District, did knowingly assault one Samson ‘m’ to death, by beating him and thereafter, burying him in a shallow grave behind Ayobami Ogundele’s house (now at large) and thereby, committed an offence punishable under Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Paul Ugorji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
Thus,  the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.M. Ajayi, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
