Police operatives from State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID Yaba, Lagos have arrested a 28-year old man,  Okeke John Chris, for allegedly using his car to crush a close ally to death over undisclosed business transactions.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect,  Chris, allegedly used his Lexus Saloon Car with Reg. No. AKD 588 JB  to push the victim and ran him over with the said car while ensuring that he was dead before he drove off.

The incident happened on 5th February, 2025, at Falomo Square on Lagos Island, where the suspect accosted the victim.

However, he was identified, arrested by the Police and transferred to the SCID Yaba for further investigation over the alleged murder.

After thorough investigation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ebute Metta Magistrate Court for the alleged murder which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.

The charge read:

“That you, OKEKE JOHN CHRIS ‘M’, on the 5th February, 2025, at about 0200hrs, at Falomo Square, Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully kill one Williams Wisdom ‘m’ aged 33 years, by pushing him on the floor with a Lexus Saloon Car Reg. No. AKD 588 JB and also climbing over him with the said car, thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 223 of Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”

The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, CSP Charles Akinrosoye ESQ, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. F.M. Kayode-Alamu, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
