A 36-year old man, Mudiaga Ogbode, has landed in trouble after his neighour, Mohammed, caught him as he lured his 12-year old daughter into his apartment to have sex with her.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the neighbour, Mohammed, broke into the room where he caught both of them and the suspect took to his heels while the victim was rescued. But by then he had already satisfied himself.
The incident happened on 4th day of December 2024, at Ivianago Street, Ojodu Lagos, where they reside.
The matter was reported to the Ojodu Police station. The Police operatives trailed the suspect, eventually arrested and transferred him to the Gender Section of the State Command for investigation.
According to the Police, the complainant, Mohammed stated that on 04/12/2024 at about 1740hrs, he discovered that the said Ogbodu Mudiaga ‘m’ locked his daughter inside his room and was having sexual intercourse with her. And when he broke into the room, he met his daughter and dragged her outside while the perpetrator took to his heels since December 2024. But he came back home on 18th April, 2025, before he was arrested.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, Mudiaga Ogbode ‘m’, on the 4th day of December 2024, at about 1740hours, at Ivianago Street, Ojodu Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did defile one 12-year old girl by having sexual intercourse with her and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
However, the Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asked the Court to give a date and refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O.Tanimola, ordered the defendant to be remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
