Governor Soludo’s interactive session with content creators yesterday is a significant pointer to the future of our state. As Chimamanda Adichie aptly puts it, Nigerians are consuming what they produce, and the creative industry is a perfect example of this phenomenon. No industry in Nigeria enjoys the volume of consumer appetite for local content like the creative industry.

My data may be imperfect, but it’s undeniable that the creative industry employs a vast number of persons, young and old, more than any other sector. Young Nigerians have carved a unique niche for wealth creation through their creative craft, and the Southeast boasts a fair share of talented individuals who make a living by spreading happiness, information, and advocacy.

These self-driven youngsters, “made by their phones” and the internet, have formed an army of formidable netizens who should not be ignored or underestimated. Governor Soludo’s meeting with them yesterday is a testament to his intentional leadership. He recognizes the importance of a robust creative industry in driving the growth of leisure and entertainment in Anambra’s future, particularly in the ADTS project.

This is what sets Soludo’s leadership apart – his deliberate efforts to empower all sectors. Anambra is indeed Rising!
