Boy, 18, Arraigned For Being In Possession Of Pistol With Live Ammunition

An 18-year old, Ibiwoye Solomon, has landed in trouble after Police operatives from the Lagos State Command caught him with a locally made pistol and live ammunition and was unable to explain how he got it.

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect,  Solomon, has been arrested and charged for the alleged conspiracy and being in possession of the weapon.

 

The incident happened on 22nd April, 2025, at Bankole Street, Apongbon area of Lagos.

 

According to the Police, the suspect was caught with items while the Police were on routine monitoring and suspected his movement before he was accosted for interrogation.

 

During interrogation, the Police discovered the items, immediately arrested and detained him at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba for further investigation.

 

The Police found him culpable after drilling and charged him before the Ebute Metta Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

COUNT I: “That you, Ibiwoye Solomon and others at large, on the 22nd of April, 2025 at No. 13/15 Bankole Street, Apongbon, Lagos, in the Lagos State Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: unlawful possession of one locally made pistol with one live cartridge and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of Lagos State Criminal Law of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

COUNT II: That you, Ibiwoye Solomon and others at large, on the 22nd of April, 2025 at No. 13/15 Bankole Street, Apongbon, Lagos, in the Lagos State Magisterial District, did unlawfully possess one locally made pistol with one live cartridge and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 330 (d) of Lagos State Criminal Law of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Inspector Okosun James, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs, O.O. Otitoju, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
