Abba Yola, former Chairman of Kano Pillars has charged the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF,  and the League Management  Company, LMC,  to protect players in the CHAN Eagles going by the various transfer news linking some of the players after the tournament ended yesterday.

The seasoned football administrator is of the firm opinion that the players must be properly guided to avoid contact that has underlying tone of slavery without the knowledge of the players , which can be to the detriment of their career in the future .

” I give kudos to League Management Company, the organisers of the league. I know the players are eager to sign professional contacts abroad , but there is a need to be very careful. You will hear that one or two players have signed professional contracts after the CHAN tournament without proper guidance.  One of the players had already signed for a club abroad before the end of the tournament. There is no need for hurry.” Abba Yola said.

“There should be lawyers to guide these players before signing any contract and this is where the NFF/LMC must be aware and study the contracts of these players before giving the approval for the players to sign the document,” he added.

” Players must look for the end result, not just that a club has come for me with $750,000, $ 1million and they will just sign without seeking the professional counsel of lawyers,  which may lead to crisis in the future .

” I am really afraid and we must sit down and find a way of  protecting these players who have come to limelight playing in the final of CHAN tournament. We must find a way of protecting them so that we don’t just allow them to go into slavery .

“This is my opinion about how these transfers should be run and I think it is good for the players to have this type of protection right from home, so that when they go out they will not be looked upon as orphans,” he said.
