Driver Docked For Using Company’s Vehicle To Carry Goods

A company driver, Afeez Olaopa has landed in trouble after he was caught using the company vehicle to carry goods to make ends meet in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Olaopa was apprehended by the management and handed over to the police and the company asked the police to prosecute him to serve as deterrent to other workers.

The incident happened at NICAPACO Company located at Ilupeju area of Lagos where Olaopa was employed as driver.

It was gathered that the company employed the suspect with an undisclosed amount as monthly salary.
However, the salary was said not to be enough to sustain Olaopa throughout the month before he will receive another one. So he complimented the salary by using the company’s vehicle to carry goods and sometimes carried passenger before he was eventually caught.

The suspect was charged before Ogba Magistrates court for the alleged conversion of company vehicle to other uses.

He pleaded not guilty.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Dan Oni granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that apart from the ongoing prosecution, the company has also sacked Olaopa over the incident.
