It was an atmosphere of jubilations and sense of fulfillment as the founder and President of Igbo Buru Otu Association of Nigeria, Eze Chika Nwokedi, unveiled the multi-million Naira secretariat of the well well coordinated association in Ijegun area of Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that dignitaries across the State led by the president and General Secretary of Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos State, Chief Sunday Udeh and Engr. Chuks Odimegwu,  officials of Ikotun-Igando LCDA led by the vice chairperson, Hon.( Mrs) Mojisola Badmus, Cabinet Chiefs of Eze Nwokedi,  members of Igbo Buru Otu, friends and wellwishers  among others were in attendance.

The multi-million Naira secretariat was built and completed in less than two years, which is now both a moral challenge and embarrassment to both past and present leadership of other Igbo associations such as Igbo Speaking Community and Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, which are still operating under rented apartments having existed for decades with nothing to show for those years.

Eze Nwokedi expressed satisfaction with the unveiling and stated that it was a dream come to true after the existence of Igbo Buru Otu, which will be 10 years by December, 2025.

He stated that it was a journey built on commitments, trust, unity and cooperation of the members under his leadership, which was based on the confidence reposed in him to lead the association to prosperity.

Eze Nwokedi explained that he was inspired and motivated to build a befitting secretariat for Igbo Buru Otu Association based on what he learnt from the leadership qualities of his late father, who was the leader of the need for associations to have a secretariat.

He explained that the secretariat will also serve as an event center, where members can host any event such as wedding ceremonies, birthday parties,  child naming ceremonies, remembrance events and many others at very discounted rates.

He urged Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Igbo Speaking Community to emulate Igbo Buru Otu Association and build a befitting secretariat for Ndigbo because it is the right thing to do instead of holding their meetings in hotels and rented apartments.

Eze Nwokedi, also known as Eze Okpoko of Obodowkwu town in Imo State, stated that the event center is not limited to members alone, stressing that members of the public can as well rent the place to organize their events at affordable prices.

Some of the members, who spoke at the event, commended the leadership quality of Eze Chika Nwokedi, who worked tirelessly and spent his money to ensure that the secretariat was unveiled.

The Vice President of Igbo Buru Otu,  Chief Dr Chukwuemeka Ogbuka, stated that the association is going to 10 years,  the association has invested in human life and assisted members through welfare packages. He also said the members possess good hearts and they are like minds building the association with trust and unity.

The second Vice President of the association, Rev. Moses Okwuosa, stated that it was God’s doing for the successful completion and unveiling of the plaza and secretariat. He said it was achieved by the grace of God and through the efforts of members.

Other members of the association including Chief Godwin Anaeme, Omega Ifeanyi Ogbuefi, Chief Ndubisi Ebem commended the leadership and members for achieving the feat by building a befitting secretariat and plaza for the association.

They stated that it was achieved through the grace of God, patience, unity and cooperation of the members through contributive efforts to make the secretariat a reality.

The president of the Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos, Chief Sunday Udeh, commended Igbo Buru Otu members for their achievements and noted that they are pacesetters while he enjoined other Igbo associations to emulate Igbo Buru Otu led by Eze Nwokedi.

He regretted that the Igbo Speaking Community does not have a befitting secretariat despite his efforts in the past and assured that he will try and get permanent secretariat for the Igbo Speaking Community before he leaves office as president.

The Vice Chairperson of Ikotun/Igando LCDA, Hon Badmus, commended Igbo Buru Otu Association for their resilience and achievements through good leadership and promised to be part of success story of the organization while seeking for the cooperation of Ndigbo in the upcoming Local Government election coming up on 12th July, 2025.

The climax of the event was the official unveiling of the secretariat by Hon. Badmus supported by President of Igbo Speaking community, Chief Udeh and other dignitaries present at the epoch event with celebration of birthday by members born in July.
