Rider, 35, Lands In Trouble After N5m Tricycle Parked On Street Against Owner’s Wish Got Missing

A 35-year man, Shokunbi Abayomi, has landed in trouble in Lagos State after he parked a N5m Tricycle on the street against the directive of the owner and robbers stole it at night. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the owner,  Shittu Idris, has handed him over to the Police for stealing.
The incident happened in March, 2025, at about 0345hrs at Alhaji Ibrahim Street, Igando Road, Ikotun, Lagos, where the suspect parked the Tricycle with registration number KRD 673 QP.
According to the Police, the complainant warned the suspect and directed him where to park the Tricycle. But he ignored the directive and parked it where it was stolen.
When the suspect woke up in the morning and went where he parked the Tricycle, he did not see it and he then informed the owner that it was missing.
The matter was reported to the Police at Ikotun Division. The suspect was arrested and detained at the station to produce the Tricycle and he was unable to do so.
He was subsequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
COUNT 1: “That you, Shokunbi Abayomi ‘m’, on the 14th day of March, 2025, at about 0345hrs at Alhaji Ibrahim Street, Igando Road, Ikotun Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace by parking a Tricycle Reg. No. KRD 673 QP on a street, property of one Shittu Idris ‘m’ against the lawful instruction knowing fully that the Street is not Secure and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 168(d) of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, Shokunbi Abayomi ‘m’, on the same time and place in the Aforesaid Magisterial District, did steal a tricycle Reg No. KRD 673 QP valued Five Million Naira (N5, 000,000.00), property of one Shittu Idris ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted him bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 16th July, 2025, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
