Two APC councillorship candidates, Hon. Yusuf Oni Olaniyi and Ajose Jamiu for Apena and Okota Wards, received big boost following their endorsement by Igbo leaders who asked Ndigbo in Ago Okota to turned out enmass and vote for them in the Local Government election coming up on Saturday 12th July, 2025.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that it was the outcome of the meeting held between APC leaders, Igbo leaders and Igbo critical stakeholders led by Ezendigbo of Lagos State, Eze Christian Uchechukwu Nwachukwu, held at the Igbo Community Centre in Ago Okota.

Aside from the endorsement of the two Councillorship candidates by the Igbo leaders for the election, the custodian of Igbo culture and tradition in Lagos State, Eze Nwachukwu, also conferred them with the chieftaincy title of Enyi Ndigbo meaning friends of Ndigbo to demonstrate the commitment of Ndigbo in Ago Okota to support the APC.

Eze Nwachukwu noted that despite the ugly incident that happened sometime ago, Igbo and the host community have been living peacefully in Ago Okota over the years and they will continue to live and support each other.

He assured the Councillorship candidates that Ndigbo will vote massively for them and that they should remember to come back and show gratitude after the election because they will win with the support of Ndigbo.
Eze Nwachukwu commended members of the APC and their leaders in Ago Okota, who deemed it fit to come to the Palace to engage the Igbo leaders and solicit for their votes in the election.

He assured them that Ndigbo will vote for APC and the Councillorship candidates and expressed desire that both Ndigbo and the host community will continue to live in peace and harmony in the area.
The Councillorship candidates thanked Ndigbo and Eze Nwachukwu for the honour and promised that they will not take the relationship built between Ndigbo and the host community for granted and pleaded that they should vote for them on the election day.
The climax of the event was the presentation of the chieftaincy title to the candidates and prayers for the candidates to win the election with the promise from Ndigbo to mobilize by going from house to house to convince them to come out and vote on that day.
