With his elegant, finely-crafted menswear made of European fabrics blended with Afrocentric silhouettes, Nigeria’s fashion visionary and style architect, Osereme Ebewele Brown’s designs are instantly recognisable. While his OLDWYN line —born from his practical business instincts to offer ready-to-wear sophistication for men on the move— have been coveted by the fashion forward folks since the eponymous fashion label first launched back in 2012, true fans know vintage pieces have been at the core of the Ebewele Brown brand DNA since its inception.

As fashion designer and entrepreneur, Osereme is making waves across Africa’s fashion scene with his luxury fashion and lifestyle brand now recognized for redefining modern African elegance. His brand is accessible, elegant, and immediate, tailored to meet specific lifestyle and sartorial needs.

Osereme’s foray into the fashion industry began in Lagos, where he partnered with a close friend simply known as Charles. Together, they experimented creatively and planted the seeds for what would later become Africana Couture. The early days were modest —just one sewing machine in a small room— but the experience was formative.

Osereme eventually stepped away from Africana Couture in its infancy, recognizing that the brand’s evolution was best continued under Charles’ stewardship. After parting ways, he returned to the drawing board with a renewed sense of purpose. Initially, he resisted the idea of naming his new venture, believing the work should speak for itself. However, a critical comment from an associate of a client changed everything. They questioned why such excellent work lacked an identity — almost as if he wasn’t proud of it. This comment struck a chord.

Osereme began to reflect deeply on his journey, his challenges, and his aspirations. From that moment of introspection, he decided to give the brand a name that would carry meaning, history, and responsibility. He named it Ebewele Brown, in honour of his late father, Ebewele Brown Francis, a legendary sports figure turned political statesman —a tribute that also served as a personal vow not to fail.

What began as a humble seed has since grown into a flourishing oak tree with the Ebewele Brown label now has established roots in Abuja, Lagos, and Conakry. Today, the fashion brand boasts over 100 employees, a design house, and a state-of-the-art Abuja Garment Factory that produces up to 50 outfits daily. It also supports production for other African fashion brands.

Indeed, since his debut in 2012, Osereme has redefined contemporary African fashion through bold innovation and meticulous craftsmanship. Known for his signature blend of rich African aesthetics and global luxury standards, Osareme has dressed high-profile clients — including celebrities, politicians, cultural icons, and top professionals across West Africa and beyond.

His collections, often inspired by African heritage and infused with modern elegance, have featured at major fashion events in Nigeria and earned acclaim for their originality and finesse. Under his leadership, the brand has grown into a full-fledged lifestyle label, offering bespoke couture, ready-to-wear garments, and accessories.

On Sunday July 13, Osereme celebrated over a decade of style, growth and legacy with the unveiling of his brand’s latest upscale casual and diffusion fashion line for the young at heart and upwardly mobile.

Called ‘Sainte’, the collection captures global streetwear luxury infused with African soul and produced to international standards and finished to perfection for stylish, young professionals.

During the unveiling of ‘Sainte’ at Osereme’ Lagos flagship store in Lekki, Lagos, exotic models featured —on the runway— scores of premium T-shirts, relaxed pants, shorts, carry-ons, and accessories to the delight of high-end guests, clients and fashion enthusiasts in attendance.

While Osereme has received numerous awards celebrating his creativity, cultural impact, and entrepreneurial excellence, he remains modest about public accolades. He prefers to let his work speak for itself, staying focused on the long road ahead and the vision yet to be fully realized.

“I don’t measure success by applause. For me, it’s about impact — building something that inspires others long after the lights go out,” he said.

With every collection released and every boundary broken, Osereme continues to elevate African fashion on the world stage — proving that with vision, grit, and pride in one’s roots, African luxury can stand among the global best.
