The Nigeria Police Force has promoted  its spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the promotion, which was approved by the Police Service Commission, is in recognition of Adejobi’s outstanding service, professionalism, and dedication to the principles of modern policing in Nigeria.

Now, DCP, Adejobi initially stepped into the role of Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) in an acting capacity on February 16, 2022, while holding the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).
He succeeded the former Force PRO, Frank Mba and was later confirmed in the role by former Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba (Rtd).

Since his appointment, DCP Adejobi has played a key role in reshaping the image of the Police force, implementing reforms to boost public confidence, strengthen accountability, and upgrade the communication systems within the force.

DCP Adejobi is a graduate of the University of Ibadan. He studied Archaeology and Geography as a combined honours program and later obtained a master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the same institution.

Between 2008 and 2016, he served as the Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, earning a reputation for effective communication and professionalism.
With decades of experience spanning operations, public relations, and law enforcement advocacy, Adejobi continues to be a leading figure in the transformation of the Nigeria Police.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has extended his congratulations, urging DCP Adejobi to remain a shining example of discipline, integrity, and dedicated service.

It is not certain yet if the new DCP will quit his position as PPRO because of his promotion.
