Posted on August 7, 2025

In another significant step towards enhancing the welfare of police officers and reinforcing operational capacity, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, on Wednesday, 6th August, 2025, officiated the commissioning of newly constructed police barracks and accommodation facilities at Bompai and Zaria Road, in Kano State.

This initiative is part of his administration’s pivotal step towards improving the living conditions for police personnel and boosting working morale among officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

The commissioned facilities include over 300 modern residential units, a 48-office administrative complex, a standard armoury, a transport workshop, POWA shops, worship centres, paved internal roads, and integrated support infrastructure, all delivered in line with the Force’s vision for a more professional, motivated, and mission-ready Police force.

Addressing officers, stakeholders, and guests at the commissioning, the IGP described the project as not merely the unveiling of infrastructure, but the reaffirmation of a philosophy that places human dignity at the centre of national security. He emphasized that no officer should fight for a nation by day and sleep in indignity by night, noting that the project reflects his administration’s deliberate focus on aligning welfare with performance and treating infrastructure as a catalyst for professional excellence.

The IGP acknowledged the instrumental role of private sector partners and stakeholders who aligned with the vision and delivered the project on time and to standard. He also expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the consistent support of the Nigeria Police, which has enabled meaningful reform and tangible progress under the Renewed Hope Agenda. He further noted that the project is part of a broader nationwide blueprint for police transformation, assuring that similar efforts are underway across various states.

He reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its commitment to personnel welfare and institutional renewal, recognizing that a motivated workforce is the cornerstone of sustainable public safety and national development.
