Anambra State Chairman of Civil Liberties Organization, CLO, Evangelist Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his unique wisdom, vision and patriotism in awarding contract for the construction of abandoned Ugwuakwu-Ibughubu, Osete-Umuchu Road in Aguata Local Government Area in the State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the United Nations Ambassador, Comrade Ezekwueme, recalled that the road was awarded by Former Anambra Governor, Chief Sir Willie Obiano, to help curtail incessant accidents and congestion at the ever busy Nkwo Umuchu- Osete Road. Unfortunately, after the completion of nearly thirty percent of the road, it was abandoned due to paucity of funds.

The abandonment resulted to the inaccessible condition of the road, making it very difficult to link the community with the other parts of the Local Government, Umunze in Orumba North LG and other parts of Anambra State. Moreso, due to torrential downpour, it caused erosion, submerging of houses and excruciating sufferings to the road users, citizens and destructions of farm lands.

Due to their predicaments, hardships and excruciating sufferings of the community, residents and road users including the CLO have severely drawn the attention of the governor and government of Anambra State to the deplorable and decrepit condition of the road.

To the glory of God, His Excellency Professor Charles Soludo has done the needful and awarded contract worth over  N2,754,734,086.72 (two billion, seven hundred million and thirty-four thousand eighty-six Naira, seventy-two Kobo) to BENEJAF INT’L.

Ezekwueme said, “This will rekindle the people’s hope in government, boost economic activities, enhance transportation challenges and interstate connectivity. Be it as it may, it will also give farmers easy evacuation of farm products, the people and commuters sense of belongings when completed”.

“Significantly, it shows in words and actions that Professor Soludo is indeed a listening governor and fanatic when it comes to the interest and welfare of his people.”

“Pertinently, Umuchu community, Aguata, Orumba North Local Governments and Anambrarians will remain eternally grateful to His Excellency for his magnanimity and desire to turn all sections of the state into construction sites.”

“I appeal to the contractor to swing into action and commence works on the road in view of devastating effect of rain on the road as a result of current torrential downpour” he stated.

P.M.EXPRESS confirmed that the Chairman of Aguata Local Government,  Dr Chibueze Ofobuike, leadership of Umuchu town union led by Sir Emma Maduakor and some stakeholders including Engr. Emeka Ononuju have visited the road with the contractor, who assured that work will commence on the road soon.
