Landlord’s Son Arraigned For Allegedly Beating & Stealing Tenant Wife’s Generators

A 41-year old son of deceased landlord, Goodluck Ohanube, has been arrested and charged for allegedly beating and stealing two power geneating sets belonging to a tenant’s wife, Mrs.  Ogochukwu Onuchukwu. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 2nd August, 2025, at  Oyeyinka Williams Street, Ejigbo area of Lagos, where they reside.

 

Apart from allegedly stealing the complainant’s generators, he slappped her face and tore her clothes which caused her pain during the brawl.

 

According to the Police, the suspect, Goodluck, was deported from abroad. And as he was broke, he started making trouble with the tenants despite the fact that the apartments were rented out to the tenants by his elder brother.

 

His conduct was reported to the Police at Ejigbo Division. He was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct against the complainant.

 

The Police found him culpable after interrogation and charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

 

The charges read:

“That you, Goodluck Ohanube ‘m’ and others at large, on the 2nd August, 2025, at about 0615hrs at No 23, Oyeyinka Williams Street, Ejigbo, Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did comspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence puntshatile under Section 411 of the Criminal law of Lages State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

Count II: “That you, Goodluck Ohanube ‘n’ and others at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal one Honda generator valued N350,000 and one Firman big generator valued N350,000 total value N700,000, property of one Ogochukwu Onuchukwu F and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

Count III: “That you, Goodluck Ohanube ‘m’, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did unlawfully assault one Ogochukwu Onuchukwu by giving her slap on her face and tearing her clothes which caused her pain and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 171 of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

Count IV: “That you, Goodluck Ohanube ‘m’, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by causing nuisance in a public place and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 168 (d) of the Criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The Prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.A. Popoola, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned till 19th September, 2025, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
