House Maid, 22, Arraigned For Carting Away N5m Worth Of Madam’s Gold  Earrings & Money

A 22-year old house maid, Miss Oluwatoyin Moyede, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing two Laptops, one bundle of one thousand Naira notes, five European currencies, set of gold earrings valued at N5,000,000,00k belonging to Mrs. Tofunmi Adewole. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 23rd July, 2025, within the Ikeja Magisterial District where the complainant resides.

 

According to the Police, the house maid gained entrance into the complainant’s room, carted away the items and relocated to Ogoemimo Street, Owade L.G.A, Ogun State.

 

However, when the complainant discovered that the suspect stole the items, she reported the matter to the Police. The Police moved into action, eventually arrested the maid and detained her at the Isheri Police station for interrogation over her alleged conduct.

 

The Police found her culpable after investigation and charged her before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charge read:

“That you, Oluwatoyin Moyede ‘F’ of No. 33 Ogoemimo Street, Owade L.G.A, Ogun State, On 23rd July 2025 at about 2034hrs, in the Ikeja Magisterial District did Steal, Two (2) Laptops, One bundle of One thousand Naira notes, five European Currency, set of gold earrings valued at N5,000,000,00k (Five million Contrary sectinzes naira), property of One Mrs. Tofunmi Adewole ‘F’ and thereby committed an offence, punishable under Section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”

 

However, she pleaded not guilty.

 

The Prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted her bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
