Man, 37, Arraigned For Stealing Church’s Property Worth N3.5m

A 37-year old man, Victor Alfred, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing the property of Grace Nation International Church worth N3.5m. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 23rd March, 2025, at Ojodu Berger area of Lagos.
He was charged before the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Layeni, for conspiracy and stealing which attracts several years of imprisonment under the criminal law of the State.
The charges read:
COUNT I: “That you, Victor Alfred ‘M and others now at large on the 23rd day of March, 2025, at about 0600hrs at Grace Nation International Church, Ojodu Berger, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, Victor Alfred ‘M and others now at large on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal one Sony PXW-Z150 video camera valued N2,000,000.00 (Two Million Naira), one information data exchange (IDX) valued N710,000.00 (Seven Hundred and Ten Thousand Naira) and one HP Laptop valued N800,000.00 (Eight Hundred Thousand Naira), total value of N3,510,000.00 (Three Million, Five Hundred, Ten Thousand Naira), property of Grace Nation International Church, represented by one Uche Obizoba ‘F’ thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287 of Nigeria 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Esther Adesulu, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. LKJ. Layeni, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
