A suspected vandal, Umar Biliaminu, has narrowly escaped death from a mob attack after he allegedly attacked a man who caught him stealing barbed wire fence in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that it took the intervention of the Police, who rushed to the scene, rescued and detained him at the station over his alleged conduct.
The incident happened at about 8:40pm on 21st August, 2025, in the Iju area of the State, where the suspect allegedly went to steal the items, was caught in the act and the residents attempted to attack him.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, on Friday.
He stated: “At about 8:40pm on August 21, 2025, Umar Biliaminu was caught while carting away barbed wire on a perimeter fence in Iju area of Lagos State,” Hundeyin stated.
He added that Biliaminu injured one of the people attempting to apprehend him with a pair of scissors, sparking mob violence.
“This prompted mob action on him. Patrol officers from Iju Police Division raced to the scene and rescued him,” he said.
Hundeyin further noted that investigations are ongoing to bring those who attacked the suspect to justice.
“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend those behind this barbaric act of jungle justice. Say NO to jungle justice!” Hundeyin wrote.
However,  the image maker did not state what the Police will do to the suspect who escaped mob action for allegedly stealing the barbed wire fence belonging to an undisclosed owner.
