The Coalition of Nigerian Youth on Security and Safety Affairs (CONYSSA), Lagos State Chapter, on Thursday, 11th September, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), at the Ikeja House.

Led by the State Coordinator, Ambassador Akanni Michael, the group congratulated the Chairman on his election and assumption of office, while also expressing readiness to collaborate with the administration in tackling critical issues affecting youth development and community peace, particularly drug abuse and other security challenges.

Ambassador Akanni, in his remarks, described CONYSSA as an initiative of young leaders across various backgrounds, working to complement national security through advocacy, mobilization, and community engagement. He highlighted drug abuse as a growing menace threatening the lives of young people and stressed the urgent need for collective action.

The group proposed a strategic partnership with Ikeja Local Government focusing on:

1. Organizing community outreach programs to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.

2. Developing initiatives to support youth and families affected by substance abuse.

3. Collaborating with the Council on broader security challenges to promote community policing and intelligence gathering.

According to Ambassador Akanni, the partnership would enhance community security, empower young people with the knowledge and skills to resist substance abuse, and foster a stronger culture of volunteerism.

In response, the Executive Chairman, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), commended CONYSSA for its vision and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, security, and community development. He assured the group of the Council’s willingness to work with credible youth organizations in addressing issues that directly impact the future of Ikeja.
