Senator Abiru Delivers On Infrastructure, Tours Completed Roads As More To Begin Across Lagos East

The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, on Monday embarked on a tour of several newly completed roads facilitated through his office.

It was a moment of joy and gratitude as residents, community leaders, motorists and other road users in the various communities where roads were constructed, trooped out to give Senator Abiru a heroic reception, expressing gratitude for coming to their rescue on roads in dire need of intervention.

The completed roads include: Ojokoro Road (Agric), Nurudeen Owolabi, Alogba (Lowa), Apena Jimbo, Jalajugbo, Ibu Owo, Agunfoye, Ojediran, and Andu/Oshikoya.

Other locations where works are expected to commence before the end of the year include: Soji Oshodi/ Mutairu/ okeme Street Pedro ( Somolu/ Bariga), Olulonyo- Ebuwawa Road, Agbede ( Ikorodu North), Utuh Street, Akanimodo, Mile 12 ( Agboyi ketu), Ondo Street, Ajegunle ( Agboyi- ketu), Otolu – Ilagbo ( Lekki), Rala/ Oshokeji Street Ketu, (Epe), GRA 2 Road, Alogba, Dagbolu Road.

Others are: Sikiru Musa road Ibonwon ( Eredo),Ojuemuren Road to link Ita-Oloja / Express road, Ikorodu North LCDA, and Francis Okon street, opposite B-Happy Hotel, to link Ijede road to Ikorodu/Itoikin highway. Second phases of Ojokoro Road and Agunfoye will also come up.

Speaking during the tour, Senator Abiru reaffirmed his commitment to ensure infrastructure development across the 16 LGAs/LCDAs, under Lagos East Senatorial district.

He noted that the projects were conceived after wide consultations with community leaders, residents and other stakeholders, to identify priority needs.

Abiru said, “They are about easing the burden of residents, opening up communities for economic prosperity, and ensuring that our people enjoy the dignity of living in decent environments. I am encouraged by the positive feedback, and even more determined to do more.”

The Senator disclosed that contractors will equally mobilise to sites in other parts of Lagos East, stressing that his focus was to spread development equitably across the Senatorial District.

Community leaders who received the Senator applauded his performance, describing the road projects as a testimony to his transformative leadership.

 

A notable community figure, 92-year-old Alhaji Jimoh Folorunsho Alogba, whom Senator Abiru visited, while on the tour, expressed gratitude for the intervention “We never thought we would see this road fixed in record time. Senator Abiru has given us hope that responsive leadership still exists”, the Nonagenarian remarked.

Another resident, Mutiu Abiodun Banjo, praised the Senator for what he called his “listening representation”, according to him, “We raised this matter not too long, and today, he is here to witness the timely completion of the work. This is the kind of leadership people want.”

As contractors prepare to move to fresh sites for additional projects, the Senator urged residents to take ownership of the infrastructure, ensuring proper use and community-driven maintenance.

He emphasized that collaborative governance, where leaders and citizens work together, is the only path to sustainable progress.

Beyond roads, Senator Abiru has continued to touch lives through interventions in education, health, empowerment, and social support for the vulnerable.

Under his endowment, Senator Abiru, through SAIL Empowerment Foundation, empowers hundreds of young people in high demand digital and tech skill, and also provides placements opportunities for many, who are currently gainfully employed.

The Lagos East Senator’s latest outing adds to his growing profile as a people-focused legislator who matches words with action.

With more roads and projects underway, residents say Abiru’s #DoingGood mantra is more than a slogan , it is a reality.
