The police in Lagos have arrested a 58-year old man, Mr. Bola Adetunji who reportedly printed receipts and tickets of different local government and used them to collect money from public.

The incident happened on the streets of the Mushin Local Government Area in Lagos where Adetunji deployed his workers to issue the receipts and collect money from the public.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that among the items forged were tickets for motorcycle riders, radio/TV certificates, tickets for vehicles and general receipts which he printed and they looked similar to the one issued by the Mushin LGA.

However, the scam was exposed after he deployed the workers, they collected money and gave out the receipts and certificate side by side with that of the Mushin LG.

It was learnt that after Adetunji forged the items, the revenue being generated by the local government dropped drastically and the management team was surprised by the sudden drop on revenue.

During the investigations, it was discovered that Adetunji had printed his own items in such ways that it was difficult to be detected by the management until it was exposed.

The matter was reported to the police, Adetunji was arrested, detained and he reportedly made confessional statements. The police also recovered some of the forged items as exhibits and kept at the police station.

He was charged before Isolo Magistrates court for forgery.

He pleaded not guilty.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Adedayo granted Adetunji bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspect refused to mention the names of the other suspects who conspired with him to print the items. It was suspected that he might have done so with insiders at the Council who provided the serial numbers of receipts and tickets numbers which he used to print his own.
