Petition Against Ikeja Electricity: Doctor Cries Out To LASERC

Posted on October 5, 2025

Dr Omoniyi Fagbemi of Nos. 3 & 4 Josepha Close, Ojokoro-Ijaye, Lagos, has cried out against what he described as the “flagrant impunity” of Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company, calling on the Lagos State Electricity Regulation Commission (LASERC) to intervene.

According to him, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), before LASERC took over as regulator, had on 11 March 2025 ordered Ikeja Electricity Distribution to strike out ₦1,675,905.92 from his electricity account, having established that he was wrongfully issued estimated bills for August and September 2024.

He also revealed that NERC ordered the refund of ₦1,450,000.00 which he paid for a post-paid Maximum Demand (MD) meter, a purchase he claimed was forced on him after he was arbitrarily removed from the prepaid meter system.

Dr Fagbemi lamented that rather than obey the lawful directives, Ikeja Electricity officials stormed his property on 27 September 2025 with a disconnection warrant signed by one Mrs Nneka Afure, cutting off his electricity supply on the same disputed amount NERC had nullified.

He is now urging LASERC to call the distribution company to order, restore his power supply, and impose stiff sanctions on them for disregarding constituted authority.
