Man, 24, Sent To Prison For Stealing Titus Sardines At Jendol Superstore

A 24-year old man, Anas Okechukwu, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly stealing Titus sardines inside Jendol Superstore as he was caught in the process.
The incident happened on 31st August, 2025, at Abeokuta Expressway where Jendol Superstore is located in Alakuko, Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that he has been arrested and charged for stealing over his alleged conduct.
According to the Police, the suspect allegedly stole the items and was caught by the security men on duty, who handed him over to the management. The management calculated that 35 pieces of Titus Sardines valued at N59,850.00 were missing, therefore, he was the one behind the missing sardines in the Superstore.
The matter was reported to the Police at Alakuko Division. He was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct. He was found culpable for committing the alleged offence after rounds of interrogation.
The Police then charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts imprisonment.
The charges read:
COUNT I: “That you, ANAS OKECHUKWU ‘M’ between the month of 31 August at about 1830hrs, at No. 790, Abeokuta Expressway, Jendol Superstores, Alakuko, Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District did steal 35 pieces of Titus Sardine valued Fifty Nine Thousand, Eight Hundred and Fifty Naira (N59,850.00) property of Jendol Superstores, Alakuko, Lagos and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, ANAS OKECHUKWU ‘M’ on the 5th of September, 2025 at about 1800hrs, at No. 709, Abeokuta Expressway, Jendol Superstores, Alakuko, Lagos in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did steal 8 pieces of Titus Sardine valued Thirteen Thousand, Six Hundred and Eighty Naira (N19,680.00) property of Jendo! Superstores, Alakuko, Lagos, all tatolling Seventy Three Thousand, Five Hundr3ed and Thirty Naira (N73,530.00) and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Court granted him bail and ordered his remand in correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions and adjourned the matter for mention.
