The Chairman of GUO Motors and founder of Godwin and Patricia Foundation, Chief Godwin Ubaka Okeke, has continued to champion the empowerment of deaf and dumb in Anambra State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that recently Chief Okeke, who also holds the Chieftaincy title as Onwa, held a meeting with the parents and guardians of the deaf and dumb at the school of the deaf and dumb, Odoakpu, Central School, Onitsha metropolitan town.
The event was attended by some dignitaries including the National Coordinator of Ndigbo Media Forum, Rev Paul Eze, who commended the impactful initiatives by Okeke.
During the meeting, Chief Okeke reaffirmed his foundation’s dedication to supporting these students, who reside in hostels built and fully sponsored by him.
Currently, over 500 students are benefitting from this initiative, with all expenses covered from start to finish by Chief Okeke through his Foundation.
In his statement, Chief Okeke urged the parents and guardians not to lose hope in children, emphasizing that every individual has potential waiting to be unlocked.
He stressed that as long as God created them, there is a purpose and goodness in store for them. Drawing parallels with the achievements of the blind individuals, who have excelled in various fields, he questioned why the deaf and dumb should be seen as any less capable.
Chief Okeke called on the public to treat the deaf and dumb with dignity and equality, recognising their inherent value and worth. He appealed to the government and philanthropic organisations to lend their support to this noble cause, highlighting that the Godwin and Patricia Foundation has adopted the empowerment of the deaf and dumb as one of its key projects.
This initiative is a testament to Chief Okeke ‘s unwavering commitment to uplifting vulnerable communities and his belief in the transformative power of education and support.
