The Buruj boys struggled to handle early pressure from Yomaraz FC, which led to the opening goal in the 8th minute. Despite the early setback, Buruj Sports Academy began to grow into the game, orchestrating an impressive attacking move from right-back, Adekunle Ridwan, who delivered a penetrative pass to Raheem Salaudeen in midfield. Raheem drove forward and split the Yomaraz defense with a precise through ball to striker, Shola Abimbola, who found the back of the net. Unfortunately, the goal was disallowed for offside.
The first half ended with Yomaraz FC leading 1–0.
Yomaraz FC resumed play in the second half with a quick long-ball counterattack that resulted in an early goal in the 46th minute, extending their lead. Buruj Sports Academy then tried to maintain possession and rebuild momentum, but a defensive error from Malobi Ebube led to a penalty after a mistimed recovery challenge in the 58th minute. The Yomaraz winger stepped up and calmly sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to make it 3–0.
Just two minutes later, the same Yomaraz winger was shown a yellow card for a reckless challenge.
Buruj Sports Academy responded with renewed energy, pushing forward into the opposition’s box where Moses Agemo was fouled, earning a penalty. Raheem Salaudeen converted confidently in the 65th minute, pulling one goal back for Buruj.
However, Yomaraz FC struck again in the 73rd minute to restore their three-goal advantage. Despite the scoreline, the Buruj boys continued to show determination and good footballing spirit. A Buruj player was cautioned with a yellow card in the 75th minute as the game’s intensity remained high.
After 90 minutes of action, the match ended 1–4 in favor of Yomaraz FC.
It was a challenging but learning-filled encounter for Buruj Sports Academy, who showed flashes of brilliance and fighting spirit throughout the game.
