DPO Orders Prosecution Of 2 Suspects For Recording Policemen Allegedly Collecting Money From Motorists

The Divisional Police Officer of Trade Fair Division, CSP Elebute Olabisi, has ordered for the arrest and prosecution of two suspects for recording Policemen suspected to be collecting money from motorists on top of the Trade Fair bridge and Station Guard in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects, Onyeama Felix, 31and a lady, Agboola Titilayo, 27, landed in trouble for allegedly recording Policemen while on duty allegedly collecting money from motorists.
While Felix was caught recording Policemen at the bridge, the lady, Titilayo, was as well caught using her phone to do video recording of Policemen at Station Guard while performing their lawful duty.
The DPO was said to have been furious over the conduct of the suspects against the officers while performing their lawful duty as it was to expose or defame their character.
Both were arrested and charged before the Ojo Magistrate Court for their alleged conduct against the Policemen.
The names of the Police officers on duty were withheld but the suspects were charged for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace by using their phones to record the officers while on duty.
The charges read:
“That you, Onyeama Felix ‘M’ on 13th day of August, 2025, at about 1830hrs, on top of Trade Fair bridge, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial district, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to breach public peace, by using your Samsung AO2phone to do video recording of Policemen while performing their lawful duty, with intent to defame their character and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 168, and punishable under Section 168(d), of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT II:-“That you, AgboolaTitilayo ‘F’, on 14th day of August, 2025 at about 0645hrs, in front of Trade Fair Police Station, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial district, did conduct in a manner likely to breach public peace, by using your phone to do video recording of Policemen at Station Guard, while performing their lawful duty, with intent to defame their character and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 168, and punishable under Section 168(d), of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
However, they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Esther Adesulu, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.M. Ogun, granted the defendants bail with sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
